Microsoft Loses Out In X360 Code Copyright Infringement Battle.

After a recent court loss Microsoft can no longer sell their Xbox 360 product in Germany.

Over the last few months there has been a special kind of 'cat fight' between Microsoft and Motorola. Motorola put the law suit against Microsoft after claiming copyright infringement of the H.264 video codec which will now see Microsoft pulling their stock from retailers across Germany and maybe even calling a mass recall of the product from paid customers to have the products destroyed.

I just can't see the paying customer giving back their purchased product without a fight. It's just like Anne Frank all over again. Gamers hiding illegal Xboxs in their attics or behind fake walls whilst the German authorities come knocking to take their loved ones away. Their only record that they ever existed being their abandoned and forgotten gamer score.

However, it goes further. Not only is this codec used in the software of their Xbox 360 product but also in Windows 7 discs and through their digital distribution of Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player. This means that this case has opened the door to the chance to be challenged in every country they've [now] illegally sold electronic or digital products to. That's anyone who has purchased a system or software that runs on this codec. That equates to a fan the size of planet and a lump of shit the size of a the meteroite from the film Armagedon charging towards it.

Estimated costs of reaching a negotiated settlement with Motorola are estimated by Microsft to be about $4 billion a year, though Microsoft will not have to pay this amount untill it has exhausted the appeals process.

"We are pleased that the Mannheim Court found that Microsoft products infringe Motorola Mobility's intellectual property," Motorola Mobility said in a statement.

Of course you are. Why wouldn't you be? You just won a multi-million battle with one of the worlds largest corporate super-powers with a multi-BILLION payout. What a fucking redundent thing to say!

You know who won't be pleased? Any paid customer who is forced to give up their paid for soft/hardware. Or Anne Frank.
