You're making out that this law is justified purely to hit back against a tiny sub-culture that barely exists any more whilst many more people, mostly homeless, will go punished for trying to find shelter for themselves in unused buildings. Do you have you any idea of compassionless, petty, uninformed and jealous you sound?
I mean, it's hard to tell over the internet but are you trolling this forum or do you genuinely believe that "spongers" or people who soak up resources through the benefits system, would then go on to live in a run down building and not instead claim housing benefit and live in a fixed address - a fixed address and bank account being a NECESSITY to get any kind of benefit in the first place.
And as some body who is working on paying their own mortgage so they can own their own home, does it not make you mad that there are people in the world who have more property then they can keep up with maintaining and casually forget about? They are part of the reason your mortgage is so high after all.
Also, have you ever considered how hard it would be to get a job when you have no home? How difficult it is to get a nice suit and shower for an interview? Have you seen the price of razor blades? I'll bet that's never truly crossed your mind, having a home and all it's never been a problem for you, but I should trust you know your stuff to back up such a strong statement.
After all, you are right of course, all those pesky long haired hippies that litter our society are the REAL villains here. They are just being inconsiderate by not following the rules and undermining your crippling mortgage payments by not paying to live in property [a basic human necessity to survive]. How dare they manage to get by without being forced to work most of their lives away for a pittance reward which is instantly stripped of them by government in taxes, bankers in interest repayments, utility bills or other such expenses that undermine the hard work you do five days a week to get by, thus keeping you in the same standard of social living. Yes, yours are not the words of a jealous person.
I don't wish to make the assumption that your being a thoughtless person who makes knee jerk reactions to social situations, points the finger in the wrong direction and makes a fool of themselves on the internet. That would just be unkind.
So because you are not the kind of person, then you must know how this law is a firm attack on any one who does not already OWN their own home. You know that you cannot celebrate the fact that these roaming free radicals now have to be forced to "get a job" whilst also ignoring the fact that the homeless who require squatting to survive will suffer the most by implying that some how you have sympathy for the GENUINELY homeless - as if by excusing them from your hatred it some how makes this law better for them. This is a law that effects everyone equally and it may one day effect you. It is without prejudice or morality and is indiscriminate to whom it effects. Hippies or homeless or recently evicted family or run aways or the mentally ill or , it's all the same to a piece of paper.
So maybe you'd like to re-think your statement, because like it or not it is a harmful law to those in society are need protecting the most.

I cannot believe that this has taken so long to pass, It must be
absolutely horrendous for anyone returning to their own property, which
they have borrowed money from a bank to pay for, to find some scum bag,
shooting up, smoking weed and peeing all over their property without a
care in the world. As for the policeman of over 25 years, lets see how
you feel when you are not allowed by law to enter your own property
because somebody else has taken refuge in it and claimed squatters
rights, Come on pc good heart, you must know loads of empty buildings,
and railway arches etc, direct them all to such places and get them away
from normal tax paying, working, law abiding society. And if they are
such ok people, give some room up in your house copper and come home
from work to see them on your couch after a 12 hour stint. dont think so
copper, do you?.
I'm assuming that you've got first hand
experience of people doing this to yourself? Or to a close friend or
family? Or to a neighbour, or their friends or family? Or some body on
your street? Your local area? Your council district?

Good! There's a big difference between genuine homeless and these

You are right. Squatters are homeless people who
live in an unoccupied building owned by some body else without their
permission. Genuine homeless people have the moral decency to sleep in a
