We Are The Forgotten

I really didn't want this to become a "thing". I am not defined purely by the concept of my sexual orientation any more then any one else is, but the fact remains that there are certain forces in this world, powerful forces, that would seek me harm regardless of how perceptually insignificant this element of my character is. Yet like a spot, if you pick it you'll only irritate it to the surface.

I don't think twice in a day about the fact that I'm gay in any meaningful way, it hasn't changed my life in that nothing about me needed to change to just be myself. The only things that come with being shameless about the subject is the sense of freedom, self confidence, truth and companionship. Mostly the companionship. Feeling that you are truly alone is a harrowing experience. But there are some people who think about and interfere with sexuality a LOT. And not their sexuality, but mine. And that's just weird if you ask me . . .

Weird like a pink uterus monster breaking into your home and screaming "STOP! STOP! You're Doing It Wrong!"
By not leaving it alone, they don't leave ME alone and this invites me in to become involved in their stupid arguments. It's like dealing with children, poking you with a stick and name calling; You can ignore it but it won't solve anything - you'll continue getting provoked until a reaction from you is reached or they get bored and leave. Or round you and your friends up and beat you to death. And no body likes being poked by sticks, and no body likes being their persecutors get away scot free.

This leaves two options: You can retaliate in equal force and they'll feel victimised by you [the delicious hypocritical irony], and maybe attack back with stronger force, or you can retaliate in overwhelming force and maybe they won't ever touch a stick again. Unlikely.

But as the Bible says: Do unto others as you would have done unto yourself, and when fighting against people who are thick-minded as shit-bricks you won't get out of this looking clean. So fuck it, lets get FILTHY!
Like a pig in shit.
Cue Lord Carey, the latest blundering fool who jumped under the wheels of the progress bus to try and clog the axles. Don't be fooled by his website, despite his implied birth in 1991 and death in 2002 Lord Carey is alive and the former archbishop of Canterbury. If you live in England at the moment you might have heard of him. Recently, he bravely came out in defiance of same-sex marriage and human rights activists in support of the Church of England's rights to not conduct same-sex marriages by announcing a logically air tight statement, in the way that that the Church of England usually does[n't].

How did he do this? By comparing Christians to the Jews during the second World War of course!

STOP! That's a bloody strong event you're trying to compare yourself to there, squire. More so in that by implying that you are the Jew in this situation, therefor those who stand against you are Nazi's: "Remember the Jews in Nazi Germany," he told a Conservative rally, "What started against them was when they were called names. And that was the first stage towards that totalitarian state. We have to resist them. We treasure democracy. We treasure our Christian inheritance and we want to debate this in a fair way."

Aside from the horrifically offencive implication that the GLBTQ community are Nazi's, or of a similar mind to extinguish ANYBODY from the face of the earth, or that this movement for same sex marriage is in any way similar to the Holocaust, I think some thing has gone horribly wrong in this man's head.

When I think of Nazi's I don't think of people who are fighting AGAINST persecution, un-equality and regularly being murdered for simply existing [like the GLBTQ community]. Usually I think quite the opposite of those things. Usually, when persecution comes up I think of the Jews . . .

But I don't solely think of the Jews. They were not persecuted alone. It pains me that most people have no idea of the suffering of not just Jews but ANYONE during the holocaust that the Nazi's deemed of genetic insignificance and that was a METRIC SHIT-TON of people: "Romani, communists, Soviet prisoners of war, Polish and Soviet civilians, homosexuals, people with disabilities, Jehovah's Witnesses and other political and religious opponents, which occurred regardless of whether they were of German or non-German ethnic origin" - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Holocaust.

Damn Jews. Hogging all the juicy martyrdom for themselves.
So his entire spiel comparing the C.o.E. to the Jews during the beginning of WW2 is nothing but hypocritical bullshit and MASSIVELY offencive, he throws such an argument in the face of ALL those who were persecuted back then in that very same event he compares himself to and CONTINUE to be persecuted to this day.

Popular history may have forgotten us, the millions of human beings of all creeds, sex and backgrounds who were rounded up and slaughtered, treated like vermin, in the misguided attempt to make the world a more ideal place for some, but I will NEVER forget . . . and the longer this battle rages on I become less likely to forgive.

It's not because it is such a massive part of me but because it is so inconsequential to the life's of others that their continuous attack on the LGBTQ community really pisses me off.

Get over yourselves Church of England. Get over yourselves all bigots, bastards and haters everywhere. You are not the persecuted bunch. You feel persecuted because your strong sense of self entitlement is under attack and you don't want to share your toys. Your logic is no different from that of a misogynist who complains about feminism or the racist who complains of ethnical equality. It is entitled thinking. You have no more right over anything then any one. All concepts, including and ESPECIALLY religion, are constructs of human thought, therefor it is discriminatory thinking [within the mind of YOU].

If this level of hatred was the intention of any higher spiritual or supernatural being I'd be inclined to rebel, like a certain fallen Angel you might have heard of . . .

As an atheist, a man of science, rational and political leftist I believe that we are all made of matter - tiny particles of solidified energy that make up all building blocks in the universe and therefor fundamentally the same as each other. The differences that we can see before us between each other are in actuality as insignificantly small as we are to the wider universe. It is the thinking of a blind fool who cannot see that what is happening here, this culture pushing against normative religious monopolies, is the counter-attack from what was done unto others. A simple Golden Rule: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Rulehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Rule

You dish out the dirt so often that apparently you guys must LOVE it, so suck it up!

You know, this reminds me of an argument I made on a social networking site not long ago. It went a little something exactly like this:

"Am I the only one who is fed up of anti-same sex marriage arguments being utter twoddle?

It's really not hard to build a convincing argument. Here, I'll do it for you:

"Marriage is a religious practise that we believe has been introduced by God and the rules of such are highlighted accordingly. For us, to go against those rules is to go against God and our moral beliefs.
It's a difficult ethical and spiritual predicament for us, we wish to be inclusive but we also have to stick to the rules. Yet it is not fair for those outside the religion to force those within to condone/conduct a ceremony we believe to be sinful. It's bullying. And after all, love is universal and does not need marriage to be celebrated. So, we're sorry that we don't want you to get married but it's the rules set by the highest power and if we were to change the rules then we would go against that power and the structure of our beliefs.

Also, we fear that most same sex couples, and those who wish to make marriage inclusive to all sexualities, are not of our faith and should therefor not be allowed a say in how we, of faith, function. Much as we, of faith, should not be allowed a say in how others function. As part of a fair and just society we all need to get along and marriage is not the end all of life's achievements. We are sorry if we gave you that impression."

There. Simple. I pulled that out of my head within a minute. Go ahead and use it for all I care. I'm beyond sick of this entire affair. Either stick by your guns, earn my respect by not flaking in the face of peer pressure and look like noninclusive jerks or prove that your holy book means nothing by going against the words printed within the page. Your choice how you lie in your bed.

Hate the sin, love the sinner - that's the new catchphrase for the Church, right? ¬_¬ "
